a5c7b9f00b Sarah Ashburn (Bullock) is an uptight FBI agent and has her eye on a promotion. She has closed more case than anybody else in the FBI, but the thing is none of her co-workers like her because she knows pretty much everything. She is sent to Boston to uncover the identity of a ruthless drug lord (Michael McDonald) and is paired up with a foul-mouthed Boston Cop (McCarthy), but they don't get along at all!
Sarah Ashburn, an FBI agent, is extremely ambitious and has her eye on a promotion, but she doesn't get along with her co-workers. She is sent to Boston to uncover the identity of an elusive drug lord, Mr. Larkin, by tracking down his proxy, Rojas, and is told that she'll have a good shot at the promotion if she finds Larkin. When she arrives in Boston, she learns that Larkin has been eliminating his competition and taking over their operations. She learns that Rojas is in Boston PD custody and goes to see him to ask him what he knows about Larkin, but is warned that the cop who arrested Rojas, Shannon Mullins, is very territorial, and she is not exactly sociable. When the two meet they don't get along. When Mullins learns why Ashburn is in Boston, she decides to find Larkin herself. Ashburn is told by her boss to work with Mullins, but it won't be easy because Ashburn does things by the book while Mullins does things her way.
Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy are in one of those terribly predictable American "comedies". Sandra Bullock is the darling of American fans…after the terrible "Congeniality" movies it was clear she could make ANYTHING and still those Americans who love the middle aged girl next door…will pay there money to see her. She is really only a one dimensional actor. Anyway, McCarthy and Bullock make a comedy (is it really a comedy?) that has extremely violent moments. Of course they are like chalk and cheese, but like all of these movies they become buddies. (what a surprise !!!) I counted one and a half laughs (I am being generous) in this poor excuse for a movie. Whatever happened to American humour ?? It appears to have completely disappeared…..
The Heat, a remake of a buddy film from the '80s, was a huge hit – so much so, that there is a sequel.

Sandra Bullock stars with Melissa McCarthy in this film, about an FBI agent (Bullock) and a Boston policewoman (McCarthy) who are forced to work together on a case.

McCarthy's character is tough, mean, and foul-mouthed, and Bullock's is brainy, uptight, and formal. Nothing new there, although both are able to play these types of roles well.

There are some funny scenes for sure, in between the expletives.

Both women are so talented. I wish they had better material.
Part of the point here is to stake a claim on a genre that’s traditionally been a boys’ club, and in that regard, The Heat delivers: In a bonding moment, this odd couple goes on a bender as epic as anything in "The Hangover." Their enthusiasm with weapons should alarm viewers across all demographics and species.
The US Blu-ray features two versions of the film. Next to the R-rated theatrical version, we have an unrated cut that doesn't offer a substantially better film. If you liked the theatrical version, you might enjoy some of the plot extension that the longer cut introduces since they add a little humor but they are not necessary to alter the film's overall impression. In total the Unrated Version runs approx. three minutes longer than the Theatrical Version.
